Dear Family and Friends,
For my 59th birthday, I am requesting donations from all friends and family to honor my beloved mother – Ann 'Tunky' Riley, who died from breast cancer in 2008 after decades of fighting the disease.
As First Lady of South Carolina, at a time when cancer conversations were not as readily held as they are today, she was one of the first public figures in South Carolina to speak about her battle with breast cancer. She used her voice to encourage other women in the state to get mammograms and other lifesaving cancer screening methods
On October 1st, the ACS CAN will host its annual Pink Tea, which they've named in memory of my mother who was diagnosed with breast cancer. The event will focus on the need for state and federal funding in support of early detection and prevetion of breast cancer.
All money raised here will go directly to the ACS CAN to help fund advocacy efforts.
Contributions or membership payments to the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network Inc. are not tax deductible.
