Well it has been quite a year, hasn’t it?
After losing a job and a testicle, some good fortune led me to my current role as Texas Grassroots Manager for American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. I’m in a constant state of awe when I see the tremendous effort put forth by our incredible network of volunteers. Further still, I’m thrilled to be in a position to help generate impactful moments to benefit anyone who hears the awful words “you have cancer.”
This No Shave November is dedicated to my grandfather, Victor DeLeon. My grandfather came to this country with nothing. After a lifetime of sacrifices and hard work, cancer brought his life to an end. In his final months, he allowed his body to be a research subject in a clinical trial for the treatment of this cancer. The same cancer I was able to survive in 2018.
Join me in honoring my grandfather and anyone you’ve loved and lost, or anyone you know fortunate enough to have the tools needed to fight off this awful disease.
The money raised through this CANraiser will fund our efforts and provide resources needed to empower our volunteers to use their voices to drive the changes we need to see in cancer care.
I’m grateful to be alive. Your gift will keep our mission running strong—which I’ll be VERY grateful for! With your help, we can continue bringing volunteers from every pocket of the state to our capitol for face-to-face conversations with lawmakers. These are the quality relationships that lead to new and improved laws surrounding cancer care.
We can do all of this and more with your help.
