My name is Dawn Correll Cruz and I am an 18 year Ovarian Cancer Survivor. I have been involved with ACS CAN since 2008. Being an ACS CAN member is now a passion of mine.
I hope you’ll join me in celebrating by donating to an organization that is very important to me – the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN).
ACS CAN is the nation’s leading cancer advocacy organization; encouraging lawmakers to support policies that lead to the prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer.
I was just thinking how a simple act of donating one dollar per year of survivorship could add up to not only an emormous amount of fundraising, but also something greater: The total years of Survivorship. The impact this had on me was what motivated myself to start the "One Step, One Year, One Dollar" campaign. I have had several friends pass away from Cancer as recent as last month (August 2019). Sean was a high school friend who was diagnosed with Stage 4 Stomach Cancer and died 3 weeks later. I want to honor those that have passed but also celebrate Suvivorship.
I am donating $18 as a celebration of my anniversary of 18 years of Survivorship. "I ask all survivors to join me in doing so in honor of your own years of good health or in memory of loved ones you have lost."
