Colonoscopies save lives.
Dear [Decision Maker],
Cancer screenings save lives. As a cancer advocate, I strongly urge you to pass S.906-A Sanders/A.2085-A Dinowitz to remove barriers to colorectal cancer screenings.Colorectal cancer is preventable when polyps are found and removed during colonoscopy screenings. If a follow-up colonoscopy is needed after a positive screening test, it is part of the preventive screening process and therefore should be covered by health insurers with no patient cost sharing. Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of death for men and women across the United States, with an estimated amount of 8,920 in New York State alone. Sadly, colorectal cancer affects the Black community at disproportionate rates. African Americans are about 20% more likely to get colorectal cancer and about 40% more likely to die from it than any other group. Please support this lifesaving legislation to remove barriers to screening and ensure its passage this session.
