protect funding for the Indiana Breast and Cervical Cancer Program
Dear [Decision Maker],
Now, more than ever, we must protect public health funding, especially funding for cancer prevention and treatment. As a volunteer for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, I am asking you to support maintaining funding for the Indiana Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (IBCCP), an investment that not only saves lives but results in a 3-1 match from the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Program.
Currently, the IBCCP is able to serve 4,000 of the 41,000 Hoosier women who need assistance gaining access to breast and cervical prevention and treatment options. Services include no-cost mammograms, pelvic exams, office visits, biopsies and more. We already are only providing these services to a fraction of those in need, and we know COVID-19 will only increase demand for this life-saving program because of delays in screenings, loss of income or insurance and other pandemic-related hardships.
Hoosier mothers, sisters, friends and neighbor's lives are on the line. Can I count on you to support maintaining the $176,000 in funding for the Indiana Breast and Cervical Cancer Program in the FY 2021-22 state budget?
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP][Your Email]
