Please protect funding for cancer programs
Dear [Decision Maker],
As your constituent and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), I urge you to help save lives by supporting level funding for the New York Cancer Services Program (CSP) in the upcoming budget negotiations in the House/Senate Finance Committee.ACS CAN volunteers have been working tirelessly to ensure federal COVID-19 relief packages include provisions to support cancer patients during the ongoing pandemic. Cancer patients, particularly those in rural, low income and communities of color, are more vulnerable now than ever before. For this reason, we can't afford to let up in our efforts to address the cancer pandemic either. As your constituent, I urge you to help make cancer prevention and early detection a top priority in New York. You can do this by preserving funding for the Cancer Services Program at $19.825 million. The Cancer Services Program provides low-income, uninsured and under-insured New Yorkers with crucial cancer prevention and early detection services including access to breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screenings and diagnostic services at no cost.Budget cuts to the CSP could have a lasting negative impact on this vital program and put many of our most vulnerable citizens at risk. This is unacceptable.I hope I can count on you to vote yes/preserve funding in the state budget that will continue to fund this program at the current level or higher.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP][Your Email]
