We must protect CPRIT funding

Dear [Decision Maker],

As your constituent and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, I was thrilled to see Texas voters approve Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) funding for another 10 years last November.

I became incredibly concerned when I learned of a proposed lapse in grant funding for critical cancer prevention services and life-saving research.

Recently, CPRIT announced they would suspend the first cycle of grants in 2021. That means CPRIT would not give money to non-profit and academic partners, worsening economic troubles and withholding cancer screening from thousands of Texans.

I hope to see you vocally advocating with state budget leaders to ensure CPRIT program operations continue in 2021. The people of Texas are counting on you.
