Fight cancer by protecting funding for vital programs
Dear [Decision Maker],
As your constituent and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), I am reaching out to you to let you know that cancer hasn't stopped, so ACS CAN and volunteers like me still have a lot of work to do and we need your help. We've been working tirelessly to ensure federal relief packages include provisions to support cancer patients and the health systems and nonprofits that serve them through this pandemic. It's a global priority to try to stop the spread of COVID-19. Cancer patients are more vulnerable than ever. We can't afford to let up in our efforts to address the cancer pandemic either. As your constituent, I urge you to please help make cancer prevention and research a top priority in Louisiana. You can do this by: Funding the Louisiana Breast and Cervical Health program at a minimum of $700,000 in the FY21 budget; and Funding the Louisiana Tumor Registry at a minimum of $500,000 in the FY21 budget. The Louisiana Breast and Cervical Health Program provides low-income, uninsured and under-insured women with access to breast and cervical cancer screenings and diagnostic services. The Louisiana Tumor Registry is one of the nation's leading population-based cancer registries and is tasked with collecting data on cancer cases in Louisiana to help implement effective prevention programs.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP][Your Email]
