Message

Dear [Decision Maker],

As your constituent and an advocate for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, I am writing to urge you to vote no on HB73.

HB 73 would tax e-cigarettes at a rate much lower than all other tobacco products, which is a tactic right out of Big Tobacco's playbook. By carving out separate definitions and lower tax rates for "closed-system vapor material" and "open-system vapor material" the tobacco industry ensures that such products will be regulated differently. We see that happening in this bill, with e-cigarettes being taxed at a much lower rate than other tobacco products. I urge you to vote no on HB 73.

We have one of the highest youth e-cigarette use rates in the nation. Now is not the time to give e-cigarettes a tax break.

I urge you to vote no on HB 73. Big Tobacco created the current youth tobacco epidemic and we can't trust them to come up with a solution that benefits anything other than their bottom line. I urge you to vote no on HB 73.

Sincerely,
