Dear [Decision Maker],

As your constituent and a volunteer of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, I am asking you to support a $1.50 per pack increase in the state's cigarette tax with a parallel tax on other tobacco products, including e-cigarettes. Doing so will generate new revenue, reduce smoking rates and reduce costs to the State of Wyoming.

Tobacco is a burden on the physical and economic health of folks living in our great Equality State. Smoking remains the leading cause of preventable death in Wyoming, which means that 800 of our residents die each year from their own smoking.

High smoking rates result in high costs for our economy, costing $258 million in health care costs annually. Smoking also results in over $202 million in loss of productivity costs to Wyoming employers each year. Inaction is far too costly.

Please act to ease Wyoming's tobacco burden by supporting a $1.50 per pack cigarette tax increase with a parallel increase in the tax on other tobacco products, including e-cigarettes in 2020.

Sincerely,
