Volunteers from the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network are visiting the Roundhouse today asking lawmakers to make cancer a legislative priority in New Mexico. As your constituent, I am writing to urge you to listen to the voices of cancer patients, survivors, and advocates like me when important decisions this session that affect us all. I am asking for you help this session by voting:- YES on House Bill 230 to increase funding for evidence-based, statewide tobacco use prevention and cessation programs by $1.5 million to help prevent New Mexico kids from starting to use tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, and to help current adult tobacco users quite. - YES on House Bill 41 to increase funding by $350,000 to the NM Department of Health for cancer survivorship programs, including community-based education, emotional support services, and lodging for cancer patients.
