Healthy Drinks - Healthy Kids
Dear [Decision Maker],
For many Americans who do not use tobacco, the most important behaviors to reduce cancer risk are maintaining a healthy weight, making healthy dietary choices, participating in regular physical activity, and limiting alcohol consumption.
There is increasing evidence that exposure to excess body fat over the course of a lifetime, beginning in childhood, has adverse health consequences. What children eat and drink today affects their future cancer risk.
Through legislation in New Jersey, we are working to make healthy beverages the default option in kids' meals. This bill would still allow parents to make the decision on what their child drinks, but would set the default option as water, low-fat milk, or pure fruit juice without additional sweeteners. As my legislator, I urge you to help make the lives of New Jersey kids healthier by supporting our bill to #RethinkTheDrink. Vote yes for S-521; A-1741.
