Please oppose Senator Cavanaugh's proposed AM 2129

Dear [Decision Maker],

As an American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network volunteer, I ask that you please oppose Senator Cavanaugh's proposed AM 2129 and support a cigarette tax increase of at least a $1.00 per pack.

Small tax increases of under $1.00 per pack like AM 2129 do not produce significant public health benefits or cost savings because the cigarette companies can easily offset the beneficial impact of such small increases with temporary price cuts, coupons, and other promotional discounting.

Please oppose AM 2129 and support a meaningful and effective tobacco tax increase. Thank you for taking time to read my comments on this important issue.

Sincerely,
