Dear [Decision Maker],

As your constituent and as an advocate for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), I want to thank you for cosponsoring SB225/AB242, which would establish a palliative care advisory council in Wisconsin, and ask that you please urge Senate Heath and Human Services Committee Chair, Senator Testin, and Assembly Aging and Long Term Care Committee Chair, Representative Gundrum, to hold a hearing on this bill.

Please give us a chance to tell our stories about the benefits of palliative care, the struggles some of us have faced without this type of coordinated care and let us make the case for why a palliative care advisory council is needed in Wisconsin. You should also know 28 other states have established a palliative care advisory council.

This bill needs a hearing because, no matter where you live in Wisconsin, cancer patients and their families deserve access to this team based approach to medical care known as palliative care. I am counting on you to make that happen.

Sincerely,
