New Year, Same Fight-pass Intro 1345 now
Dear [Decision Maker],
I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year. While it may be a new year, many of the same fights continue. The City Council must resolve to keep up the fight against Big Tobacco by once and for all passing legislation to restrict the sale of menthol cigarettes in New York City.
On New Years Day millions of New Yorkers resolved to quit smoking and live healthy lifestyles. But with nearly seven thousand licensed tobacco retail stores in neighborhoods across New York City selling millions of menthol cigarettes that are easier to smoke and harder to quit, it is a very hard resolution to keep.
As your constituent, I urge you to bring Intro 1345 to a vote this month. Failing to do so will result in countless New Yorkers continuing to be hooked on menthol cigarettes and thousands of lives being lost unnecessarily.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP][Your Email]
