Bring Int 1345 and Int 1362 to a Vote Today

Dear [Decision Maker],

I am writing to ask Speaker Johnson to restrict the sale of all flavored tobacco products, including menthol and electronic cigarettes. I support Intro 1345 and Intro 1362 and ask the Speaker to schedule both bills for a vote in October.

In October 2009, the New York City Council passed the first in the nation ban on flavored tobacco--including cigars, smokeless tobacco and other forms of flavored tobacco. Unfortunately, menthol cigarettes were exempted from the ban. As a result, countless New Yorkers continue to be addicted to tobacco and will see their lives unnecessarily shortened. Ten years later, a new threat in the form of flavored electronic cigarettes are threatening the health of New Yorkers. Meanwhile, menthol cigarettes continue to hook kids on deadly cigarettes and contribute to significant health disparities across New York City.

It is time for the City Council to finish the job once and for all by restricting ALL flavored tobacco including electronic cigarettes and menthol cigarettes. I support Intro 1345 AND Intro 1362 and ask the Speaker to schedule BOTH bills for a vote in October.
