Cancer patients can't wait, sign A2785 and A3009 now
Dear [Decision Maker],
As a constituent and a volunteer with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), I am asking you to sign A2785-A and A3009, the medication synchronization bills, into law. This year approximately 111,870 New Yorkers will learn they have cancer. Sadly, 35,010 New Yorkers will lose their battle to cancer this year. Time is precious for cancer patients and the time it takes to go to the pharmacy can be a struggle when not feeling well. The reality for cancer patients is that numerous medications are often needed for treatment and side effects. That can mean multiple trips to the pharmacy while in active treatment. The New York State Assembly and Senate passed two bills to allow patients with multiple prescriptions to synchronize the date they get each prescription filled. This would significantly ease the physical burden on the chronically ill and improve outcomes for cancer patients across the state.Medication synchronization, a tool in increasing medication adherence and improving the quality of life for cancer patients by streamlining this process into one monthly pharmacy visit, is already law in 30 states. Please sign A2785-A and A.3009 into law to allow patients with coverage thru Medicaid or commercial plans to synchronize the date they get each prescription filled. Cancer patients across the state can't afford to wait.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP][Your Email]
