Dear Representative [Decision Maker],

As your constituent and on behalf of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), I am writing to ask that you to VOTE NO on overriding the Governor's veto of the budget. The vetoed budget is disastrous for hundreds of thousands of low income, hard working adults and families, who are stuck in the health insurance coverage gap. These individuals make too much money to qualify for Medicaid but too little to qualify for subsidies for private insurance.

North Carolina needs a budget that expands Medicaid to ensure that all North Carolinians have access to quality, affordable health insurance. To improve health outcomes and reduce cancer disparities, North Carolina lawmakers must VOTE NO on overriding the Governor's budget veto, and instead, support a state budget that will close the coverage gap. Having access to health insurance is a matter of life or death for countless cancer patients, survivors and state residents facing a cancer diagnosis. Ensuring that low-income individuals and families have access to comprehensive, affordable health care coverage is one of the most critical ways lawmakers can successfully reduce cancer incidence and mortality in our state.

As your constituent, please VOTE NO on overriding the Governor's budget veto.

Respectfully yours,
