Support H5517/S679 and help us prevent colorectal cancer!

Dear [Decision Maker],

As a volunteer for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, I write to urge you to support S.679/H.5517, legislation to prohibit cost sharing for colonoscopies for individuals 45 and older.

In Rhode Island, more than one person is diagnosed with colorectal cancer daily. We need your help to ensure that cost isn't a deterrent for Rhode Islanders when it comes to colorectal cancer screenings.

Colorectal cancer is preventable if polyps are found and removed at an early stage and colonoscopies receive an A-rating from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. Despite this, 58% of all colorectal cancer deaths in 2020 will be due to "non-screening." In Rhode Island, coverage is not guaranteed for colonoscopies when they are utilized as a secondary screening.

Will you please support S.679/H.5517, legislation to prohibit cost sharing for colonoscopies for individuals 45 and older?

I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,
