dedicate funding for colorectal cancer screenings to save lives

Dear [Decision Maker],

As your constituent and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, I urge you to support dedicating funding to the Indiana State Department of Health for the implementation of colorectal screening programs in underserved communities.

The CDC is planning to offer a new round of competitive state grants for colorectal cancer screenings next year. By funding an evidence-based screening program this biennium, Indiana may be able to leverage significantly more federal funds in the near future that will help more low-income, at-risk Hoosiers screened.

We know that cancers that are found at an early stage are easier to treat and lead to greater survival and we know that uninsured and underinsured people have lower screening rates, resulting in a greater risk of being diagnosed at a later, more advanced and more costly stage of disease.

Please support dedicating state funding to live saving colon cancer screenings.
