Teens and Indoor Tanning Don't Mix
Dear [Decision Maker],
I'm asking you as my Representative to vote YES on Senate Bill 2847, prohibiting the use of indoor tanning devices for children 17 and under. There is no scientific doubt about the dangers of indoor tanning. We know for certain that the ultraviolet (UV) radiation emitted from tanning devices is one of the most avoidable known risk factors for skin cancer. Research shows those who use tanning devices before age 35 increase their risk of developing melanoma by 59 percent. The World Health Organization (WHO) categorizes indoor tanning as a known carcinogen, the same classification given to cigarettes.
