Vote YES on HB 256/E-Cigarettes in Clean Indoor Air Law
Dear [Decision Maker],
As your constituent, I am asking you to vote YES on House Bill 256 to protect non-smokers from exposure to toxic secondhand smoke. This bill would prohibit the use of electronic cigarettes everywhere combustible tobacco products are prohibited in the Dee Johnson indoor Air Act that was enacted in 2007. It would also remove some current exemptions in the law to expand health protections for New Mexico workers and patrons. The US Surgeon General and other health officials have referred to e-cigarette use among youth as an epidemic- and here in our state, 1 in 4 high school students have begun using these products. HB 256 will help protect New Mexico from exposure to the toxins in secondhand aerosol from electronic cigarettes and will help reduce the normalization and acceptability of e-cigarette use in public places and workplaces.
