Tobacco 21 Deserves a Vote
Dear [Decision Maker],
As a constituent and volunteer with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, I would like to ask you to vote yes on SB 348, Tobacco 21 legislation.Your vote is a bold action that could prevent young people from ever becoming addicted to tobacco. Raising the minimum age of tobacco sales to 21 years could reduce the overall smoking rates by an estimated 12%.
Tobacco products put our kids at a higher risk of losing their lives prematurely to tobacco-related cancers and illnesses. By raising the age to 21, West Virginia will protect the health of our children. The primary tobacco source for underage smokers is their 18 to 20-year-old peers. Increasing the legal age of sale will help keep tobacco out of high schools where younger teens often obtain tobacco products from older students.
Please stand up for the health of West Virginia youth. Please support SB 348 and help us provide a tobacco free future for West Virginia children.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP][Your Email]
