Please Protect Sacramento Kids and End the Sale of Flavored Tobacco Products

Dear [Decision Maker],

As a Sacramento resident, I am asking you to protect kids by voting to end the sale of flavored tobacco products in Sacramento. The tobacco industry has long targeted youth with their products and marketing and the rising trend of adolescent use of flavored tobacco products is very troubling and must be addressed.

- The earlier youth are exposed to tobacco products, the less likely it is
they will be able to quit.
- Most youth begin with flavored products, which even the tobacco
industry calls, "starter products."
- Tobacco products are available in kid friendly candy and fruit flavors like
bubblegum, cotton candy, strawberry and gummy bear.
- The tobacco industry selectively targets youth and young adults with
marketing of these products.

Protecting our youth from a deadly addiction to tobacco products, will help to make Sacramento a healthier place to live.

Several California cities, including San Francisco and Richmond have taken action to protect kids from potential lifelong addiction to tobacco products by ending the sale of flavored tobacco products in their cities. I hope that I can count on you to protect the health of Sacramento kids by voting to end the sale of flavored tobacco products in our city.

Sincerely,
