Invest in Delaware's Future - Increase Funding for Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation Programs

Dear [Decision Maker],

Please invest in Delaware's health by increasing funding for tobacco prevention and cessation programs by at least $ 1 million, which will allow our state to once again fund our tobacco control and prevention program at over 50% of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommended level. Over the past several years funding for these successful programs has been cut by over 40%!

Recently, the U.S. Surgeon General released a new report on e-cigarettes to address the significant health threat e-cigarettes pose to our nation's youth and young adults. The report states that the use of any products containing nicotine among youth, including e-cigarettes, is unsafe. This report is the latest example of why states must continue to invest in comprehensive tobacco prevention and cessation programs to help reduce all forms of tobacco use, including e-cigarettes for youth and young adults.

I urge to increase funding for tobacco prevention and cessation programs by $1 million in the state's budget to save lives in Delaware from tobacco related diseases.

Sincerely,
