Reinstate funding for tobacco control in New Jersey
Dear [Decision Maker],
I urge you to sign A3338 which would dedicate 1% of tobacco tax revenues to the tobacco control program
The use of tobacco products remains the nation's number one cause of preventable death. In New Jersey, tobacco use causes an estimated 11,800 deaths per year.In New Jersey, smoking is estimated to cost $4.06 billion in direct health care costs, including $1.17 billion in Medicaid costs.Tobacco sales are up in New Jersey for the first time in five years! That means more of these products are being purchased in our state, and more people are at risk of tobacco related death and disease.
Governor Christie, I urge you to sign A3338.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP][Your Email]
