Dear  [Decision Maker],

As a San Francisco resident, I am asking you to approve the amendments being considered to prohibit the marketing and sale of flavored tobacco products, as part of a comprehensive strategy to help reduce youth smoking. As an elected official, you have the opportunity to stop industry targeting of youth and vulnerable populations by prohibiting the sale of all flavored tobacco products, including menthol cigarettes, in our city.

Smoking remains the leading cause of preventable death in California, and sadly, most smokers begin this deadly addiction before they are legally old enough to buy tobacco products. The tobacco industry has preyed upon young people in low income neighborhoods, in communities of color and in LGBTQ communities with kid-friendly flavors, low prices and aggressive advertising. This targeted marketing adds to health disparities in populations already impacted by social inequities.

Please vote to save lives by prohibiting the sale of all flavored tobacco products in San Francisco.

Thank you,
