Dear  [Decision Maker],

As an Oakland resident, I am asking you to approve the amendments being considered to restrict the marketing and sale of tobacco products, as part of a comprehensive strategy to help reduce youth smoking. As an elected official, you have the opportunity to stop industry targeting of youth and vulnerable populations by prohibiting the sale of flavored tobacco products--including menthol cigarettes--in any store that youth can enter, and by prohibiting the redemption of coupons for tobacco products.

Smoking remains the leading cause of preventable death in California, and sadly, most smokers begin this deadly addiction before they are legally old enough to buy tobacco products.

Please vote to save lives by approving the amendments under consideration to restrict the sale and marketing of tobacco products in Oakland.

Thank you,
