S.88: A missed opportunity to protect Vermont kids
Dear [Decision Maker],
As your constituent and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, I am disappointed that the Senate failed to vote last week on S.88, a bill that would raise the sale age of tobacco products from 18 to 21.
Every year, 200 Vermont kids become new daily smokers. Raising the sale age to 21 would help prevent high school kids from buying and distributing cigarettes and other tobacco products including e-cigarettes, saving lives and money by reducing tobacco use in our state.
This was a missed opportunity for the Senate to take a stand for Vermont kids. I urge you to work with your Senate colleagues to reschedule the vote on this important bill in time for the House to also act this session.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP][Your Email]
