Support the tobacco tax package as passed
Dear [Decision Maker],
I stand in support of the FY 2016-17 revenue package, passed by the Pennsylvania legislature, that increased the cigarette tax by $1.00 per pack, established a first time tax on smokeless and roll-your-own tobacco, and established a tax at 40 percent of wholesale on electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes).
These taxes will reduce tobacco use, prevent thousands of kids from becoming addicted tobacco users, help current users quit, and ultimately save lives. Additionally, these taxes are already raising much-needed revenue for Pennsylvania.
Any effort to rollback this tobacco tax package or change the definition of e-cigarettes, as found in HB 2342 and SB 1373, would have a negative impact on the health and economic benefits to the state. I urge you to support the tobacco tax package as passed in July 2016 by opposing all efforts to alter the revenue package, change product definitions, or lower the tax on any tobacco products.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP][Your Email]
